Secretariat's Glory ~ was one big surprise gift on Shirley Bennett's 63rd birthday. What started out as a quiet, non-planned, casual day,on May 25, 2011 turned out to be a Hallelujah shouting time of answered prayer. Out of seven mares to foal that spring, Secretariat's Fire was the last to foal and I was praying for a colt. I had just returned home from meeting Penny Chenery at my first Kentucky Derby and asked her to autograph the 8 X 10 photograph of Secretariat's Fire from Secretariat's last crop. Penny asked who she was in foal to and looked me straight in the eyes when she said, "That ought to be a real good one. Keep me posted". And, I have. The next time I saw Penny was later that fall at the Secretariat Festival in Paris Kentucky. Secretariat's Fire and Secretariat's Glory were celebrities as part of the Secretariat descendant portion of the show. Glory was four months old when he and Secretariat's Fire met Penny for the first time and posed for pictures with them. Three years later, she understands how serious I am when I tell her that I want to honor her and help waive her banner to "Keep the Secretariat Legend Alive". Glory won his maiden race at Gulfstream Park on August 21, 2014.  He has a double Secretariat pedigree (Top and bottom) with Deputy Minister positioned in the sire's side and Mr. Prospector in his dam's side. I choose purple and gold for our racing silks based on his royal pedigree and his name, Secretariat's Glory, was gleaned from the last scene in the movie.   Click on photos below for additional sire information.
